Have you ever asked yourself, “who the hell works at that darn UCLAradio.com?” If so, it’s time to sit back and get ready for a big slice of info that you probably don’t need to know, but is fun nonetheless! Meet two of my esteemed colleagues and check The Blog next week for a little TMI from two more. Happy creeping!

DJ Octoon Name: DJ Octoon

Show Name & Time: I’m in a Band… – “The BEST in Unsigned Music” Sundays 8-10 pm PST – Peep the MySpace Page

Position/Time at the Station: New Media Assistant Manager-Content Editor / DJing since Fall 2005 to the present

2-3 songs you listen to when you’re in a bad mood to cure it:

“Steady, As She Goes” – The Raconteurs. I just listen to this song all the time. I don’t know why.
“Can’t Believe a Single Word” – VHS or Beta. Because it’s just so goddamn happy and full of energy you can’t do anything but feel good.
“You Are A Runner And I Am My Father’s Son” – Wolf Parade. Because there’s something so catchy and yet edgy about it at the same time. And because I wanted to seem as pretentious as possible by putting both Wolf Parade and VHS or Beta on the same list.

Artist/band you like that your friends would be surprised to know about: Daft Punk. They’re way too cool for me to be listening to; I should probably stop listening to them.

Album you most regret buying: Frank Black – Honeycomb. I’m a huge Frank Black fan, but this disappointed even me. He redeemed himself with “Seven Fingers” but uh, I don’t think that was the question.

Song lyrics that sum up the past week of your life: Cheesy, but here ya go: “It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can.” -Yes We Can – from will.i.am, Obama, others.

Vetta Wood

Name: Lidiya (Vetta Wood)

Show Name & Time: Bertrude Parsleypants’ Crumbly Biscuit Hour, Wednesdays 10 pm-midnight (PST).

Position/Time at the Station: Intern, Fall 2008-present.

2-3 songs you listen to when you’re in a bad mood to cure it:

“Fuck Forever” – Babyshambles because I also want the happy ending; it’s a big “fuck you” song.

“The Way I Am” – Eminem because it gives me a self-esteem boost; sometimes life is shit, and you don’t have to put up with it.

And anything by Coldplay.

Artist/band you like that your friends would be surprised to know about: I doubt anything would surprise them at this point; maybe my growing collection of Radiohead, which I swore I wouldn’t listen to. Or the Britney Spears discography. Or maybe even those classical music CDs at home.

Album you most regret buying: The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch by Cute Is What We Aim For. Don’t ask.

Song lyrics that sum up the past week of your life: “Show me how to lie/You’re getting better all the time/And turning all against one/Is an art that’s hard to teach.”
