Last week, there was a rumor that Lil Wayne next album was going to made up of only rock songs. Yes, the same Lil Wayne, a rapper, supposedly has ambitions to be a rock star (not party like rock star, no). But like the majority of Lil Wayne rumors, it was quickly forgotten.
But wait! Lil Wayne shocked the world and just recently announced that his next album, Rebirth, will be a rock album and will be released April 7th (don’t hold your breath on this one though, he’s not much of a stickler on release dates…remember Tha Carter III?). For Wayne fans who saw him on perform “Lollipop” on Saturday Night Live and remember his pathetic, feeble attempt at playing guitar, don’t worry! This album will surely provided plenty more opportunities that will make you say, “What is he doing? That’s not playing the guitar. Please stick to rap.” Thankfully he gives us a moment like that on a live version of the new single “Prom Queen”. I’ll skip a critique of the song — you can probably tell what I think of it from the tone of this post.
