Check out local LA rapper Eyetel on his website and on Myspace.
Timothy Baggett, better known as Eyetel, was born January 1, 1985 in Chicago Illinois. He moved out to the west when he was 18 months. He has lived all over from Long Beach, South Central, Watts to even Moreno Valley.
As a kid he was really into drawing & playing basketball & never really had an interest in rapping. During the summer of 1999 he first decided he wanted to be a rapper after being heavily influenced by Eminem. He even called himself Tim Shady which was an obvious rip off to Eminem’s “Slim Shady”. After writing his 1st rhyme that summer, he left the paper laying around & his cousin Josh found it and told him that it was the wackest rhyme ever so little Tim Shady quit rapping & went back to playing basketball.
While Timothy attended Crenshaw High School he decided to rap again & eventually took on the name Eyetel after going through a few others. His 1st MC Battle was with Siqsteen Barz. The battle was 2 rounds to a beat box & the cipher called it a draw. Siqsteen Barz would later pick Eyetel up as an artist for Hallway Enertainment & produced Eyetel’s 1st album, “Rap Book” in 2003. Also around this time, Eyetel started wearing a sign around his neck that read, “Will Rap For Money” & would literally rap to anyone on the streets that would pay & listen to him.
Since his start at Crenshaw High, Eyetel has been moving non stop. He has been in MC Battles, performed live thoughout Los Angeles, has opened up for the lengendary Too Short, spit live on Power 106’s Wake Up Show, built his own home studio, released 3 full albums, a mixtape & an EP titled, “Back 2 Tha Crib” which is now available on iTunes and other online retailers.
