As a DJ promoting his radio show via his Facebook profile, I tend to add a lot of people. Consequently, a lot of people add me. And I also get a number of random friend requests.

The question is, how can I tell which friend requests are from unsigned musicians / fans of unsigned music, which are simple self promotion, and which are evil, evil, data-stealing, computer infiltrating spam bugs?
Take the girl pictured on the right – a recent “friend request.” She looks friendly enough, but there’s no indication from her bikini nor her cock-eyed glance that she’s into college radio.
Sure, you might HOPE that she heard of your show, and that maybe all that marketing you’ve been doing through Twitter has finally paid off.
But those are just hopes.
No one poses in a bikini and then goes around friending college radio DJs. I repeat, no one.
So if you get a friend request like this one, there’s only one thing to do – save the picture.
I mean, ignore. Ignore!
Seriously.
PS. Regardless of what is written above, I’m still accepting friend requests. Seriously.
