Well, boys and girls, its about that time again. Time for all the kids to start hydrating, buying sun-block in bulk, and shopping for short-shorts. No, I’m not talking about Summer (even though that is a few months away), but I’m talking about the hype bubbling up for Goldenvoice’s annual Coachella Festival. Scheduled to occur April 16-18, Coachella is scheduled to bring in some major names from the music world of rock, indie, pop, and even hip-hop. All three days seem like they have some strong suits and a little something for everybody. On Friday – which seems like the day with the most variety – Coachella is bringing you acts like Jay-Z, Them Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear, She & Him, and La Roux. Saturday definitely gets some more electronic and dance flavor with bands and DJs like Tiesto, Gossip, MGMT, and and Hot Chip. And Sunday just brings it all to a close with Gorillaz, Pavement, De La Soul, and Thom Yorke (???? – what do those question marks mean, anyway?). Seems like purging $269 + service charges is pretty worth it. Sure, past lineups may have been a tad more mind-blowing, but come on. This is a pretty good lineup! Coachella is also making it extra convenient for your camping needs – since hotels are really expensive and will probably be booked in about a month – with new car camping! Sure beats sleeping in a tent!
But really, what sounds better than 3 days full of awesome music in the desert? I know I’ll be one of the many guzzling down water, searching for shade, and enjoying all the festival has to offer. You should be there, too! If not for all three days, then just one! (Even though there’s a pesky rumor flying around that single-day passes won’t be sold this year. Anyone know if this is true?)
So, are you in? Who are you looking forward to seeing? Are you camping it out? Can I count on you for lodging?
Hope to see you there!
