Whatever happened to the Associated Press, Reuters, Networks, or the fallen CNN? They use to be the main source of other news outlets until blogs came into fruition such as TMZ.
In the business of the News, the news agency tediously works for that exclusive story or better yet “break the news” with a story that would give their agency recognition and credibility. In the time of instant gratification, TMZ (Thirty Mile Zone) for the ones who don’t know has taken over the “breaking news” field from all the news agencies. TMZ has somehow transformed from being an entertainment blog to becoming a “broke man’s” news organization. TMZ‘s notoriety began when they broke the Mel Gibson’s drunken rant and be the first to report the death of Michael Jackson. Ever since then, TMZ has played integral part in the news and has become one of many blogs that have taken over the news reporting. There are several blogs/internet newspapers that have taken the lead such as the Huffington Post, Politico, Salon.com, and Mother Jones.
When every news network (NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC) has their news ticker displaying the latest news and then you see a major news story which is certified by internet website such as TMZ then these network should be ashamed for not breaking the story themselves. These news networks should step their game up and begin putting the extra work to becoming the main source again. These news networks should not depend on these websites on their reporting and stress on rebuilding their news reporting credibility.
