It’s not every day that you see artists, bands, or groups take a full part in promoting their shows, music, and brand identity. As times change in the music industry, more tools are being created to help promote music, but some artists rely on these tools too much, which can sometimes cause a loss of connection between artists and fans. What Los Primos Del Este did with this concert at the Peacock Theater not only strengthened but also built an even deeper relationship with their fanbase. Los Primos Del Este have continued to show their relevance in the music industry while also demonstrating their diversity and dedication to their fans. They organized meet-and-greets, marketing activations, and produced countless hours of content to invite their fans to a special night with them in Los Angeles. This concert truly showed that with hard work, dedication, and focus, dreams are still possible to accomplish in this industry. As fans like myself made our way to the Peacock Theater, we knew we were in for a night that would be filled with unforgettable memories.
As you walked down L.A. Live and saw all the banners, screens, and TVs featuring Los Primos Del Este, you knew right away this wasn’t only going to be a concert but also a huge party for all their fans. Fans came from all over, dressed in their jeans, botas, and tejanas, as if they were going to a Jaripeo, ready to dance the night away. To make it all better, this tour they had just started was based on their newest album, “Poesías,” which had been released very recently. The special thing about this new album is that they went in a completely new direction with their sound and style. Regional Mexican music has really grown in the music industry over the last three years, and with Regional Mexican music being a genre as a whole, there are many different types of sounds within it. Los Primos Del Este became famous very early in their career with Corridos and Banda-style Regional Mexican music, but with this newest album, they went full-on with a Norteña sound, which is much slower and more romantic. They even covered some of their most popular original songs in a Norteña version, which went viral on social media, particularly their Norteña version of the song “No Es Mentira.”
I was fortunate enough to interview the group before the concert a few weeks ago, and when I asked them why they decided to switch their style, they replied, “We love making music, and a lot of music, and we don’t like to just stick to one sound because we don’t want to bore our fans.” Personally, this was by far my favorite album, and with Norteña-style Mexican music, I knew there would be much more dancing and a lot more memories with loved ones at this concert. And they hit it right on the nail because this concert was anything but boring. Fans packed out the venue, singing their hearts out and dancing in between the aisles.
As I entered the venue, it was full of fans trying to get as close as they could. Then, it was finally time. Dozens of band members took the stage, playing loud Banda-style music to get the party started. The main six members then made their way to the stage, running and dancing as if they were literally partying with the fans in the crowd. Once the Banda left the stage, they kicked off the night with their biggest, most viral hit, “No Es Mentira.” This song had everyone singing along and dancing to such a popular tune that kept the grupo in the spotlight. Along with that song, the album was filled with other songs they performed live that had everyone going crazy, such as “No Hay Solución,” “Quiero Ser,” “Prada,” and “Poema.” The stage presence each group member brought was truly amazing. The beautiful thing about this grupo is how they all seemed like they were having fun — playing the accordion, the saxophone, singing on the microphone, and playing the bass and guitar.
This night was one to remember. It seemed like not only did the grupo live their dream, but they also put on a show that made the concert worth it for all their fans who had come. I have been to many Regional Mexican concerts, and this was by far one of the most memorable because I knew how much work they had put into inviting all their fans to join them. This was a huge stepping stone in their career, as they managed to pack out the Peacock Theater for their first performance at such an iconic venue. Los Primos Del Este will continue their tour across the United States for the next few months, and I am certain they will only find success on their journey while bringing an incredible show to all their fans who come out to support them. Los Primos Del Este’s newest album, “Poesías,” is available to stream on all music platforms and is a true demonstration of what it looks like when an artist or group is not afraid to step out of their comfort zone.
