Balanced Offensive Attack and Stifling Defense Lead the Bruins’ to Their First Regular Season Win of the 2024-2025 Season over the Rider Broncs
The Bruins had the visiting Rider Broncs reeling from start to finish at Pauley Pavilion on Monday night. Whether it was finishing around the rim, sinking midrange jumpshots, or cashing in from beyond the arc, the Bruins’ offense could not be stopped by a Broncs’ defense galloping into the unknown perils awaiting them in the hills of Westwood.
On the other end of the court, the Bruins’ defense could be compared to the stalwart walls impeding the general public’s access to the confines of Bel Air. The Broncs would only be able to muster 50 points while shooting 32.3% from the field. Their defensive effort was spearheaded by Forward Eric Dailey Jr. and Guard Kobe Johnson, who played with infectious intensity. Forward William Kyle II and Center Aday Mara would internalize the effort emphasized by these two starters, asserting their authority in the paint. They would both finish with three blocks.
Given the Bruins’ dominance on both ends of the court, the Blue and Gold would emerge victorious with a score of 85-50, securing their inaugural win of the 2024-2025 season.
Again, Forward Tyler Bilodeau led the team in points with 18 on the night, highlighting his reliable jumpshot as he mercilessly picked the Broncs’ post defense apart.
It is safe to say that Bilodeau’s effort allowed his teammates to perform better Monday night. Eight other Bruins would reach the scoring column, showcasing the immense amount of depth that this team possesses.
The scarcity of minutes on the Bruins’ roster presents a problem that reflects upon the plethora of talent on this team.
The Bruins will face the New Mexico Lobos at Pauley Pavilion at 8 PM on Friday, where they will look to maintain this early season momentum by taming a talented Lobos team that reached the March Madness Tournament last season.
