After a month of constant heat and humidity, the evenings in Los Angeles have finally started to cool down. A soft breeze occasionally grazed the Greek Theatre on the night of September 26, 2025, as Alex G took the stage awash in blue tones. Blue is a theme for the music of the Havertown, Pennsylvania native as well as the dominant color on the cover of his tenth studio album, Headlights, released July 18. He opened the concert with a rendition of “Louisiana,” a hypnotic and wistful anthem that captivated the audience of reverent fans.

His songs make you nod your head and sway whether or not you want to. There’s a melancholic groove that somehow becomes jubilant when performed live. The audience enthusiastically called out lines from their favorite tracks, transforming personal bedroom anthems into communal chants. Giannascoli himself maintained an understated presence, often turning toward his bandmates and allowing the tight arrangements and masterfully crafted lyrics to flow through and envelop the theater with lush sound.
He masterfully balanced older fan favorites with new material from Headlights. The hazy mist that started to fall didn’t dampen the energy as he swung into the second half of the set with the hit single “Afterlife,” the whole crowd crooning the little “yeww” with him during the chorus. The new tracks felt right at home, receiving an equally enthusiastic reception.

There was a bit of whimsicality (flickering Christmas lights strung up above the musicians in the background) and a whole lot of earnestness in Alex G’s performance at the Greek. He has a rare ability to make a venue as large as the Greek feel as intimate as a friend’s basement. It was a night that perfectly captured the feeling of his music: a little sad, a little strange, and deeply resonant.
