Entering Rosarito you could feel the Mexican beach weather, see the large crowds of people walking towards the beach and of course you could hear reggaeton beats playing from blocks away. It’s the best time of the year for all Latin music lovers as Baja Beach Fest is once again hosting their world famous Reggaeton music festival. It’s not everyday you get to see the biggest latin artists come together to perform one after another for hours on the same stage. That is exactly what fans from all over the world come to experience at Baja Beach Fest, and day 1 did not disappoint.
Some of the best young and upcoming talented latin artists open up such as Omar Courtez, Dani Flow and Alvaro Diaz. All these artists set the tone for the rest of the festival and had fans dancing in the sun as they got to experience live performances of their hit songs, “LUCES DE COLORES” and “Otro Show.” But out of all the daytime performances, there was one special one that not only had fans screaming and jumping in the crowd but as he said it on the mic, “let’s get a little sad because I am a sad boy.” Alvaro Diaz is a Puerto Rican rising super star who just dropped his newest album SAYONARA and as he prepares for his upcoming tour, he decided to bring his energy to Baja Beach Fest for the fans to get an early preview of what he is bringing to his tour. Alvaro Diaz not only played hits from his newest album but he also took us back to his earlier days of fame with his famous song, “Llori Pari” and “A Mi Tambien” where both songs include collaborations with Feid, and although Feid was not there all the fans sung his part for him with Alvaro.
As the sun began to set, the party was only getting started. As the festival continued and we went into the night, it was only the start of the party. Legendary artists such as Yandel and De La Ghetto took the stage and played all of their throwback songs in which were some of the earliest reggaeton hits. Artists such as De La Ghetto and Yandel are true pioneers of the latin music industry and their music still transpires and influences fans and new up and coming reggaeton artists today. Playing old school hits such as “Tu Te Imagines” and “Sensacion de Bloque” brought nostalgia and memories to the entire festival and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that Baja Beach Fest created. As the night was reaching its end, it truly felt like the best was saved for last. With super star latin DJ Deorro playing his EDM latin songs and having legend Chencho Corleone playing his old school hits we knew that the headliner, Rauw Alejandro, was about to have the entire festival remember the reason why Baja Beach Fest is special.
Another very notable performance was by Mexico’s very own young super star, Xavi. Xavi is something the latin music industry hasn’t seen in a long time since an artist like Peso Pluma. Xavi rose to fame very quickly, from trending songs on social media to his very recognizable strong voice. And to be able to be in Mexico and be able to watch him perform in front a crowd of thousands of people was truly amazing. Xavi is not only young but he is so talented when it comes to singing and he truly represented Mexico in an amazing way by performing at Baja Beach Fest. Xavi played all his hit songs such as, “La Diabla” and “La Victima” which collectively have over 1 billion streams. An artist so young and fresh in his career such as Xavi performing solo at a music festival was truly an experience to see and he made it his moment.
The chants had finally started around midnight with fans all over screaming, “Rauw Rauw Rauw!” and you even had his music playing on the speakers as everyone was waiting. Finally it had happened, the lights had gone off leaving everyone in the dark and all you see on stage is smoke rising from the floor with multiple dancers walking to their place on stage. As these dancers lined up on stage with the smoke continuing to grow, the crowd had gone crazy, everyone in that festival knew what was about to happen. As we waited in the dark for a few seconds, there he finally was. The headliner himself Rauw Alejandro in his leather loafers, sparkling shorts, a tank top with white collared shirt over standing on stage, embracing it all as the smoke faded out. Rauw truly brought the party to Baja Beach Fest and gave his fans exactly what they deserved. He even brought out special guest Alvaro Diaz to perform their famous collaborations together for all the fans. It’s not everyday you get to see Rauw Alejandro perform by the beach side in Mexico and he knew this as he continued to tell the fans about the love he has for Mexico. A very memorable part of this concert is Rauw grabbing a mexican flag from the crowd and wearing it around his neck for the rest of the night.
There was truly no better way to end night 1 of Baja Beach Fest other than having Rauw Alejandro close the night out with his amazing singing and choreography. From romantic songs to club songs, his transitions and song selection was everything any reggaeton fan could have asked for. Night 1 was a success and Baja Beach Fest will only continue to bring the party for the next 2 nights. Stay tuned for more Baja Beach Fest coverage!
