It being my first show ever at the Pomona Fox Theater, I arrived 2 hours early since I didn’t know what to expect. As I walked towards the theater, you could see a huge line of people that wrapped around the entire block and it consisted of Dannylux fans who had posters, custom merchandise, and even hand made gifts. Dannylux is a Mexican-American singer/songwriter who was born in Palm Springs California and by seeing how many fans showed up to this sold-out show, it really made a statement for how far he has come in his career as an artist. I was fortunate enough to cover this concert and as a fan, I was truly excited to not only hear his songs performed live but also be able to witness his stage performance for the first time. And I must say it did not disappoint one bit, and his fan base played a huge contribution to setting such an amazing atmosphere at the Pomona Theater.
As I was escorted into the media line, I witnessed the doors open for general admission. When I say these fans were eager to see Dannylux, I literally mean it. I saw fans sprinting to the front of the floor, bumping into one another, and chanting Dannylux’s name as loudly as they could. these were some of the most supportive fanbases I have ever seen and it was truly beautiful to see the amount of custom made art pieces they had made for him. As I finally got situated in my viewing area for the night, I took a look behind me and saw a flood of people filling the entire general admission floor. The upper terrace above was also packed with fans from left to right. It’s no surprise that Dannylux’s fan base is so dedicated because he constantly showing his love and appreciation for his fans. I was very eager to see how this night would play out in terms of his stage presence and I knew I was in for a great time.
As with any concert, the lights finally went off, and you could quickly recognize the iconic opening guitar riffs for his hit song, “Jugaste y Sufrí,” a song he featured on early in his career with Eslabon Armado, another famous Mexican singer in which really helped both of them get attention across social media. This song has sentimental meaning behind it in which it speaks upon feelings being played with in a relationship and suffering because of it. You could truly feel that during this song, Danny was already connecting with his fans on an emotional level. It was special to see all his fans as they sang every lyric with their phones out filming every second. It’s always a special sight to see when a performer connects with their fans on stage, and Dannylux truly excels at this. As the night went on, we heard more of Dannylux’s sentimental songs, which he is well-known for and his fans couldn’t get enough. As they were constantly chanting for him to sing specific songs that’s exactly what he did.
During his live performance, Dannylux continued to put on a show and even brought up a younger fan on stage to sing with him, creating great memories not only for the young fan but also for the rest of us who witnessed it. A moment that really struck out to me during the concert was when Dannylux took time to acknowledge all the gifts that were brought for him. He physically had hopped off stage and began to sign posters and album covers along with receiving some of the gifts. At one point, he grabbed a little girl’s art piece that she painted for him and placed it at the center of the stage for the rest of his performance. A venue like the Pomona Theater is perfect for an artist to connect with fans, which is something that large arenas can’t always achieve since it’s more challenging and large. This was the perfect venue for a night with Dannylux.
Towards the end of the concert, Dannylux’s cocnert took a transition and began to get a bit energetic then usual. As we know, Dannylux has a very specific style of music catering to sentimental heartbreak music in whihc we all connect with. However, he recently went viral for a few of his dance-styled music tracks that trended all over social media. What better way to end the night than with his famous dance tracks in which he stated in an interview he had slapped on his album last minute and out of being spontaneous.
The two trackss, “HOUSE OF LUX” and “HOUSE OF LUX 2,” had the entire crowd turn into a club vibe. These songs trended on social media because they were different from the rest of his music catalog. These songs live were getting the entire crowd jumping and dancing for the rest of the night. Dannylux is so successful in today’s music industry not only because of his amazing songwriting but also because of his Mexican roots and his love for mixing genres and embracing his culture. The crowd was filled with Mexican flags for a reason: a large portion of his audience is the Mexican community, especially him being Mexican-American. Dannylux truly did not disappoint, and what better place to have his concert than such a special venue like the Fox Theater Pomona. It being my first time there, I can’t wait to experience more shows at this venue and see Dannylux move on to even bigger stages since he is so young and talented. The sky is truly the limit for Dannylux.
