Rising punk rock band Destroy Boys has announced a new album, Funeral Soundtrack #4, releasing August 9 via independent label Hopeless Records. The album will consist of 11 tracks and feature punk bands Mannequin Pussy and Scowl.
Destroy Boys is high school friends Alexia Roditis (lead vocals, guitar) and Violet Mayugba (guitar, backing vocals) with Narsai Malik (drums) and David Orozco (bass). Best known for their hit “I Threw Glass at My Friend’s Eyes and Now I’m on Probation,” the Sacramento-based group has three successful records out and a devoted fanbase eagerly awaiting a fourth. The upcoming album was first teased in the summer of 2023 with singles “Beg For The Torture” and “Shadow (I’m Breaking Down).”
“Beg For The Torture” was a memorable first glimpse at the record. It’s a sexually-charged, fast-paced track evocative of the contradictory, yet coinciding, throes of desire and dismay. On “Shadow (I’m Breaking Down),” a vulnerable song about self-doubt and mental/emotional anguish, Roditis sings alternately in English and Spanish, paying homage to their Argentinian heritage.
Destroy Boys has now released five singles previewing the new record, available on all streaming platforms. They will embark on a US tour this October to promote the album.
