This Filipina-Latina dream pop duo went from 9-5 jobs to touring sold-out shows to their Coachella debut. The Two Lips are the dream-pop duo you do not want to miss.
The Two Lips were born and raised in L.A. County. Growing up in Cerittos, they attended the same schools, unknowing of each other until later in their lives. They connected through social media a few years ago and have been inseparable ever since. Their heritage and upbringing influences their music, singing lyrics in both English and Spanish. “Still Love You (Todavia)” remains their top song on Spotify since the single’s release in 2024.

They’ve only been playing music together for around three years, having made a name for themselves quickly and early on in their careers by posting videos of themselves playing music on TikTok. In search of finding a way to set them apart from their peers they decided to play omnichord duets on TikTok, and that’s when their views started to gain traction. An omnichord is an electronic, harp-like instrument with intriguing features that include drum rhythms, auto-bass lines and organ-like harmonies. These videos are how I discovered them as artists and I was instantly hooked. Most people discovered the omnichord through the Adventure Time songs such as “Everything Stays” or “I Will Remember.” The Two Lips were even able to have Rebecca Sugar herself (one of the main Adventure time songwriters) featured on “Happy For Me,” which is the last song on their EP “Girl C’mon.” The Two Lips are now signed to Island Records and have 1.6 monthly listeners on Spotify. Our small dream-pop duo is not so small anymore.

The Two Lips’ EP Girl, C’mon has quickly become one of my favorite releases of 2025. The seven song strong EP has taken The Two Lips to places they’ve never imagined, accomplishing goals they only thought could be dreams. Andrea and Jewlz’s hard work and dedication as a duo has truly paid off through trusting one another and their music. They are a perfect example of never knowing when you’ll have your big break within the music industry, that there’s always a chance of making your dreams a reality.
They started their full time music careers and quit their jobs about a year ago, deciding to fully commit to their dreams of being full time musicians. Jewlz was a server before becoming a full time musician with Andrea and has a degree in music production, dabbling with writing music during her free time. Andrea was a preschool teacher while attending school to get her masters in education. She was recommended by one of her professors to quit school and her job to follow her dreams of being a full time musician. That is exactly what she did. Andrea loved teaching and her students so it was bittersweet to leave. At this most recent show at The Roxy I ran into some of her past students. They were overjoyed to see their teacher performing on the stage. I talked to them and their mom for a little bit after the performance. The kids were grinning ear-to-ear, so thankful for the opportunity to be there and to have had her as a teacher.
Both of them worked on their own music on the side but nothing was catching people’s attention like when they got together. They balance each other out: Jewlz is the black cat while Andrea is the golden retriever. They simply work so well together it is hard to imagine they weren’t writing music together until recently. Their sound could be compared to the Marias, singing about the challenges of womanhood, relationships and love, heartbreaks, identity, and personal growth. Spotify has classified them not only as dream-pop but bossa-pop, indy-pop and bedroom-pop. Having elements of bossa nova, dream-like vocal harmonies, synths and the omnichord all contributing to their unique sound, it makes sense why it could be hard for Spotify’s algorithm to categorize them with how they’ve beautifully blended and crafted their sound.

It was such a treat to have The Two Lips back in L.A. for their Kiss and Tell Tour in between their Coachella sets, especially since this show was added to their tour last minute. There was nothing but positive energy and joy emitting from the audience anticipating their arrival. The audience cheered as the Two Lips entered the stage, beaming with excitement. You can really feel that The Two Lips are in their element when they’re performing. Fans have their own designated style that matches The Two Lips’ aesthetic: black and pink polka-dots, ribbon pins, skirts, matching sets. Bringing their whimsy with them is essential. Having this garden-fairy-like demeanor in their tour aesthetic only makes sense. They were originally called The Tulips after all until a recent name change. The Two Lips not only have sweet music, but have some of the sweetest fans. Everyone was overjoyed to be there and singing along to their lyrics, such as:
“I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea
Don’t know why I try to be
Being a girl is so confusing ‘cause in the end, I’m pleasing nobody.”
These lyrics are from their song “Cup of Tea.” It is an extremely relatable tune about how confusing it is to be a girl in this current world. Learning to have more respect for themselves and learning where to put their time and energy. That it’s okay that you’re not everyone’s “cup of tea.” So many of their lyrics are authentic and extremely relatable to their audiences, a reason why they grew their fanbase so rapidly. Not just singing about relationships and love but also singing about friendships and friendship heartbreak like in their song “Play,” which was the second song they performed at The Roxy. With lyrics such as
“You tell your stories, only skip where you’re wrong and we just smile, like (Girl, come on).”
Highlighting that the complexities of being a woman doesn’t just revolve around romantic love and that there is so much more to girlhood than just being in love. One of the most beautiful things about growing up is growing up with your friends. I love watching them achieve their dreams. There’s something so beautiful about female friendships and the support that comes with it. While finding out that a friend was twisting the truth or not telling the full story can be extremely heartbreaking.
While performing at the Roxy, The Two Lips debuted a new song that they said will be releasing soon. It’s unknown if they are releasing another single but myself and other fans are hoping it is a sneak peak of their first full album release. They paid tribute to their past by performing a cover song of “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt. This unexpected cover showcased The Two Lips vocal ranges and musicianship in another light compared to their original work. Usually known for their more angelic harmonies this brought a potential glimpse of what is to come with their music. The Two Lips careers have only just begun. I am looking forward to watching them continue to grow and develop as artists.
Something that I loved during the show was when Jewlz talked about how she just turned 30 and the beauty of womanhood and growing up. In a world where youth is extremely romanticized it was relieving to hear someone talking about the beauties of growing up rather than the negatives that society highlights too often. I have grown with this EP in ways that I did not expect but am so pleased to have discovered the Two Lips and been able to watch them grow as artists.
