They are a band that defined the 80s, known for their power ballads and arena rock sound. Their signature song hit top ten on Billboard on its release in 1981, and in 2021 the Rolling Stone listed it as one of the 500 greatest songs of all time, a position widely held by the public as evidenced by its almost 3 billion Spotify streams. That song itself has appeare3d across popular culture, from Glee to the World Series. Their Greatest Hits album has sold over 15 million copies in the United States, and their entire discography has sold 52.7 million albums worldwide. The band is none other than Journey.
Originally formed in 1977 by Neal Schon (lead guitar), Gregg Rolie (keyboard), Ross Valory (bass), George (guitar) Tickner, and Prairie Prince (drums), with famous lead singer Steve Perry joining in 1977, the band now consists of Neal Schon (lead guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboard, guitar), Deen Castronovo (drums), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboard), and Todd Jensen (bass). Pineda became the lead singer after Schon found a video of him covering “Faithfully” on YouTube.

Journey is currently in the midst of their Final Frontier Tour, a farewell tour that celebrates the past five decades of the group’s legendary music. Schon, the only remaining original member of the band, says the tour “is our heartfelt thank you to the fans who’ve been with us every step of the way — through every song, every era, every high and low.” The farewell tour doesn’t mark the end of the band, but long running keyboardist Cain will be departing following the final show of the tour in the band’s hometown of San Francisco. “It’s been an incredible ride,” Cain remarked, adding that “this tour is about gratitude, connection and one last chance to feel that magic together.”
Journey will be journeying to Los Angeles on Saturday, September 12th for a production featuring their greatest hits, such as “Don’t Stop Believin,” “Faithfully,” and “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” The show will take place at Crypto.com Arena at 7:30 PM. “Journey’s performance reflected a band defined not by chaos, but by precision — delivering a polished, enduring sound that continues to resonate across generations.” – The Daily Texan
